Quick Guide – HSS-Co Step Drill Bit 4–32 mm (SR-1203)

The step drill bit is designed for drilling and gradually enlarging holes of different sizes using just one tool. The working range from 4 to 32 mm allows you to quickly switch between different hole diameters, particularly for metalworking, assembly, and workshop applications, without constantly changing drill bits.

Suitable for

Not suitable for

• Machines whose drill chuck cannot securely hold the 10 mm round shank

Instructions

1. Insert the 10 mm round shank fully and securely into a suitable drill chuck.

2. Mark the desired drilling point and securely fix the workpiece to prevent it from slipping or rotating.

3. Set a suitable speed for the respective material. When drilling metal, use suitable cutting oil or cooling if required.

4. Position the step drill bit straight and drill using steady, controlled feed pressure. The spiral flute helps remove the resulting chips.

5. Drill only as far as the step corresponding to the desired hole diameter and check the diameter during the drilling process.

Pro Tips

• Reduce the speed for larger hole diameters and avoid excessive feed pressure to minimize unnecessary heat generation.

• When drilling metal, suitable cutting oil or cooling helps maintain cutting performance and reduces thermal stress on the drill bit.

Care & Storage

• Remove chips, dust, and residue from the drill bit after use.

• After working with cutting oil, wipe the drill bit clean and store it in a dry, protected place to protect the cutting edges and coated surface from damage and corrosion.

Disposal

• Dispose of the product according to local regulations at the end of its service life.

Safety Instructions

• Always wear suitable safety glasses when drilling.

• Secure the workpiece properly and never hold it by hand.

• Do not remove chips with bare hands – metal chips can be sharp and hot.

• Do not touch the drill bit immediately after use, as it may become very hot.

• Switch off the machine and disconnect it from the power supply before inserting, changing, or cleaning the drill bit.

• Do not continue using damaged, heavily worn, or deformed drill bits.
