Quick Guide – Ryoba Japanese Saw 240 mm (SR-1428)

The Ryoba Japanese saw is suitable for precise fine and coarse cuts in wood as well as for cutting plastic. Thanks to the double-sided teeth, you can switch between clean precision cuts and fast coarse cuts depending on the application.

Suitable for

  • Wood and construction timber

  • Furniture making and interior work

  • Precise fitting and fine work

  • Model making

  • Cutting plastic

  • Workshop and construction site use

Not suitable for

  • Metal

  • Stone, concrete or masonry

  • Striking or levering work

  • Materials for which the saw blade is not designed

Instructions

  1. Select the appropriate side of the saw blade for your task: use the fine trapezoidal teeth for clean precision cuts or the coarse 9-TPI teeth for fast material removal.

  2. Mark the desired cutting line and securely fix the workpiece so that it cannot move while sawing.

  3. Position the saw carefully on the cutting line and begin with short, light strokes until the blade is securely guided.

  4. Continue sawing through the material using smooth, even strokes. Avoid excessive pressure and let the teeth do the cutting.

  5. Reduce the pressure toward the end of the cut and support the workpiece if necessary to prevent the cut edge from splintering.

Pro Tips

  • Use the fine teeth for visible edges, furniture making and applications where a particularly clean cut is important.

  • Use the coarse teeth for fast cuts and thicker wood sections.

Care & Storage

  • Remove sawdust, dust and dirt with a dry cloth after use.

  • Keep the saw blade dry and store the saw so that the teeth are protected from impacts and damage.

Disposal

  • Dispose of the product according to local regulations at the end of its service life.

Safety Instructions

  • The saw teeth are very sharp – do not touch the cutting edges with your hands.

  • Wear suitable personal protective equipment while working, especially safety glasses.

  • Secure the workpiece firmly before sawing.

  • Always keep hands and fingers away from the cutting area.

  • Do not use the saw if the blade is bent or damaged, or if the teeth are severely damaged.

  • Keep the saw out of reach of children.
